Applications are invited for a Software Engineer position to work with Dr. Diego F. Torres, Dr. Emma de Oña and Dr. Josep Colomé at the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC-CSIC) in Barcelona. The candidate will join a group with a large experience in developing control software for the operation and control of astronomical instrumentation. The successful candidate will work on the implementation of the control software for the first large-size telescope (LST) of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) observatory (www.cta-observatory.org).
Candidates with BSc or MSc degree in computer science will be considered. The candidate should have good background and experience in programming with the following
programming languages: C/C++, Python, Java, CORBA. He/she should have experience in developing under Linux and with the software development life cycle: requirements, design,
implementation, documentation and testing. Knowledge of basic positional astronomy and astronomical instrumentation will be valued.
Candidates should possess English language skills.
The position will be initially a 1-year appointment, but can be extended up to a total of 3 years depending on the availability of funds. A starting date in September 2018 is foreseen.
