Telescope Joan Oró obtains the Gaia-OSA certificate
The telescope Joan Oró (TJO) of the Montsec Astronomical Observatory, has recently received the official certificate of collaboration with Gaia-OSA (Groundbased Observational Service for Asteroids), as the telescope that more data has provided to this asteroid observation network campaign.
Gaia Data Release set for 14 September
ESA’s billion-star surveyor Gaia, launched on 19 December 2013, and in routine science operations since 25 July 2014, will release the first mission data on 14 September 2016.

IEEC participates at the Festa de la Ciència of Barcelona
On June 18th and 19th the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona hosts the tenth edition of the Festa de la Ciència of Barcelona with the aim of bringing the scientific research conducted in Catalonia to all audiences. ESA presents first LISA Pathfinder results
Media representatives are invited to a briefing on the first results from ESA’s LISA Pathfinder mission, a technology demonstrator for the observation of gravitational waves from space.The media briefing is being organised by the European Space Agency at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Villanueva de la Cañada, Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday, 7 June, 11:30–13:00 CEST. Transit of Mercury observation on May 9th
On Monday May 9th Mercury will transit the Sun. For seven hours its silhouette will be projected on the bright disk of the Sun. The Institute of Space Sciences (IEEC-CSIC) , the Institute of Cosmos Sciences (IEEC-UB) and the department of Quantum Physics and Astrophysics of the UB have organized various activities to observe the transit of Mercury.
