Early stage research position in the Marie Curie Research Training Network "Astronet"

The IEEC team of Astronet offers one Early Stage Research position for three years starting in September 2007. Candidates should have obtained the diploma giving access to doctoral studies at most four years before the time of appointment. The position is suitable to develop a PhD thesis in astrodynamics. The research topic will be libration point orbits and gravitational assisted trajectories. The candidates must satisfy the required nationality and living conditions of the Marie Curie research training program.

Experienced research positions in the Marie Curie Research Training Network "Astronet"

The IEEC team of Astronet offers Experienced Research positions from September 2007 to august 2010. The duration of the contracts will range from 3 to 12 months. At the time of appointment the candidates should have between four and ten years of research experience. The position is suitable for postdoctoral experience or last years PhD students in astrodynamics. The research topic will be libration point orbits, gravitational assisted trajectories and formation flight. The candidates must satisfy the required nationality and living conditions of the Marie Curie research training program.

Solar Eclipse Observation at the IEEC

Next October 3rd, a Solar Eclipse will be observable from different regions of the Iberic Peninsula. Even though the eclipse will be seeing partially from Catalunya, the IEEC does not want to miss the fantastic opportunity of observing this spectaular phenomenon and, therefore, the institute will provide the necessary means for you and everyone else who is interested in this event to come and observe with us. For this, we will provide astronomical equipment such as telescopes for direct observation which are to be placed at the Plaça Civica of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB-Bellaterra). We are planning to do so since the IEEC is located on the UAB campus.

Since the observation of the eclipse will be partial from Catalunya, we will also travel to Bicorp, which is located south of Valencia, in order to observe and take images of the eclipse, seen as an Annular Eclipse. This place is considered a special location since it is within the annularity band and the weather conditions there are most favorable in comparison to the remaining regions of the Peninsula. We have posted a web page designed for this occasion (see URL below) in which we will provide all the images taken from both the UAB campus and Bicorp. With these images, we will able to observe the differences between a partial and annular eclipse.   S'ofereix beca predoctoral FPI (4 anys) per a la realització d'una tesis doctoral en el marc d'un projecte del Programa Nacional d'Astronomia i Astrofísica, AYA2004-06290-C02-01. El tema general és l'explotació científica dels satèl·lits INTEGRAL (raigs gamma), XMM-Newton i Chandra (raigs X). Concretament, es treballarà sobre la modelització i l'observació amb INTEGRAL de la radioactivitat galáctica difosa, asociada a las explosions estelars de noves i supernoves . • Oferta Projecte Fí de Carrera en Enginyeria Industrial a l'IEEC/CSIC

  S'ofereix projecte fí de carrera en Enginyeria Industrial per dissenyar, construir i calibrar el component mecànic d'una plataforma de moviments tridimensionals de precisió. Aquest simulador s'utilitzarà per caracteritzar l'espectre d'errors cinemàtic a alta freqüència de sistemes de navegació mitjançant satèl.lits com GPS, i en el futur Galileo, per possibles aplicacions en Geofísica i Aeronàutica. Dues aplicacions concretes inclouen sismologia SPG i vol en formació. El candidat s'integrarà en un grup de científics i tècnics en l'àrea de Ciències de l'Espai compost per físics, matemàtics i enginyers.
