Atmospheric calibration for Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs)



The person hired will join the Astroparticle Physics group of CERES-UAB to participate in the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) project  ( ), the world-leading project of Very High Energy Gamma ray astronomy for the next 30 years. The CERES-UAB Astroparticle Physics group searches for a highly motivated doctor in Physics to work in the Central Calibration Facilities workpackage of CTA.


The person selected will be hired at full-time from July 15 to December 31 2017, working at the CERES-UAB facilities (Faculty of Science, UAB campus, Bellaterra, Spain). The job offers joining the Central Calibration Facilities of CTA. The tasks to be performed are the following:

  •  Coordination of the CTA Central Calibration Facilities
  • Installation and set up of the weather monitoring instrumentation at the CTA sites, both North and South.
  • Integration of the weather monitoring instrumentation in the control software of CTA.


We search for highly motivated applicants that are doctors in Physics with experience on atmospheric monitoring and calibration optimized for Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs).
