The Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya offers a research position to work on photometric redshifts techniques applied to cosmological experiments. The observational cosmology group of the Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (ICE, IEEC-CSIC) is involved in world leading cosmological experiments aiming to investigate the nature of dark energy, including the European Space Agency Euclid mission, the Physics of Accelerating Universe Survey, the Dark Energy Survey, the Dark Energy Spectrograph Instrument survey and the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope survey. In particular we are co-leading the Photometric Redshifts Organization Group in Euclid and the PAUS photometric redshifts invesigation.
We are looking for a person with experience in this field to help in this effort especially in the combination of clustering techniques to obtain photometric redshifts and its application to cosmological constraints.
The position is a full-time job and expected to be filled as soon as possible. The position will be held at the Institut de Ciències de l’Espai, IEEC-CSIC, located at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Campus in Cerdanyola del Vallès. The salary is negotiable. The position will be for approximately six months and will finish at the end of December 2017.
We are looking for strong, motivated candidates. A BSc degree level (llicenciatura/grau) in Physics is required. Experience in galaxy clustering techniques and with photometric redshift codes is necessary. Good programming skills are expected and knowledge of python is also necessary. Good knowledge of English is also required.
