Montsec Observatory opens its doors to the public
The Montsec Astronomical Observatory (OAdM) of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) organizes guided visits to its facilities in the Montsec, located in the town of Sant Esteve de la Sarga in Lleida, for the third year. This is a unique opportunity to take a closer look to the largest facility of astronomical research in Catalonia and one of the most advanced of the Península Ibérica.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the Telescope Joan Oró, the largest in Catalonia and also one of the most technologically advanced in Europe; the Fabra-ROA Montsec Telescope and the XO-Montsec Telescope.

They will also be able to watch IEEC’s All-Sky camera, which can detect dangerous asteroids and fireballs close to the Earth.

About 500 people have already visit the OAdM during the two years in which the set of telescopes has been opened to the public.

Guided tours are free, but you must sign up here to be able to attend. The first visit will be held on Sunday May 20th and then one per month until September.
