_module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]This Saturday, 7 May, one hundred students between the ages of 14 and 19 will take part in the national qualifying phase in Catalonia of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/esero.es\/cansat\/\">#CanSat competition<\/a><\/strong>, which will take place at the Igualada-&Ograve;dena Aerodrome.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/eseiaat.upc.edu\/en?set_language=en\">School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering of Terrassa<\/a> (ESEIAAT) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upc.edu\/en?set_language=en\">Universitat Polit&egrave;cnica de Catalunya &middot; BarcelonaTech<\/a> (UPC) is organising the qualifying phase in Catalonia of this competition, promoted every year throughout Europe by the <a href=\"https:\/\/esero.ie\/\">European Space Education Office<\/a> (ESERO) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/\">European Space Agency<\/a> (ESA).<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, which aims to f<strong>oster vocations for space, technology and STEM disciplines<\/strong> among young people, is to design, build and launch small satellites, of the size of a soft drink can. These devices will be launched on Saturday at 11 am, 12:30 pm and 2 pm, aboard rockets designed by students of the <a href=\"https:\/\/eseiaat.upc.edu\/ca\/projectes-estudiants\/inspire3\/cosmic-research\">ESEIAAT-UPC Cosmic Research<\/a> association.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieec.cat\/\">Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia<\/a> (Institut d&#39;Estudis Espacials de Catalunya &mdash; IEEC) is collaborating in the organisation of this second edition of CanSat in Catalonia, together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/politiquesdigitals.gencat.cat\/en\/inici\/index.html\">Department of Digital Policies and Public Administrations<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/educacio.gencat.cat\/ca\/inici\/\">Department of Education<\/a> of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the <a href=\"https:\/\/i2cat.net\/\">i2CAT Foundation<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odena.cat\/\">City Council of &Ograve;dena<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odena.cat\/\">City Council of Igualada<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caio.aero\/en\/\">Igualada-&Ograve;dena Aerodrome Management Consortium<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year&rsquo;s edition has exceeded all expectations, with the registration of <strong>50 high school<\/strong> <strong>teams<\/strong> from all over Catalonia, of which only 18 teams have been selected to take off their small satellites.
