Institut d&#39;Estudis Espacials de Catalunya) at the <a href=\"https:\/\/icc.ub.edu\/\" style=\"text-decoration:none;\"><u>Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona<\/u><\/a> (ICCUB) H&eacute;ctor Gil-Mar&iacute;n has received the Young Theoretical Physics Researcher Award from the <a href=\"https:\/\/rsef.es\/\" style=\"text-decoration:none;\"><u>Spanish Royal Society of Physics<\/u><\/a> (RSEF) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbbva.es\/noticias\/los-premios-de-la-fisica-espanola-reivindican-el-valor-de-esta-ciencia-para-impulsar-el-conocimiento-que-sirve-de-base-para-las-tecnologias-transformadoras-del-futuro\/\" style=\"text-decoration:none;\"><u>BBVA Foundation<\/u><\/a>. Dr. Gil-Mar&iacute;n was awarded last Tuesday, 14 December, during the double ceremony that took place to present the 2020 and 2021 awards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The jury highlighted Dr. Gil-Mar&iacute;n&rsquo;s outstanding contributions to the analysis and interpretation of galaxy mapping, advancing our understanding of the accelerated Universe, and being one of the most brilliant researchers in the field of cosmology of his generation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gil-Mar&iacute;n was a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdss.org\/surveys\/eboss\/\" style=\"text-decoration:none;\"><u>BOSS and eBOSS<\/u><\/a> international collaborations and is a current researcher of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desi.lbl.gov\/\" style=\"text-decoration:none;\"><u>DESI<\/u><\/a>, where he plays a leading role in the survey mapping. He actively participated in the analysis of BOSS and eBOSS data, which resulted in the recently published largest three-dimensional map of the distribution of galaxies. His research focuses on the large-scale structure of the Universe, and he intends to answer one of the most fundamental questions in cosmology for the past 20 years, what drives the late-time accelerated expansion of the Universe.
