global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]A researcher from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ieec.cat\/\">Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia<\/a> (IEEC&nbsp; &mdash; Institut d&rsquo;Estudis Espacials de Catalunya) at the <a href=\"http:\/\/icc.ub.edu\/home\/start\">Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the Universitat de Barcelona<\/a> (ICCUB), Mar&iacute;a Teresa Antoja, has been awarded one of the 59 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redleonardo.es\/noticias\/las-becas-leonardo-2021-impulsan-los-innovadores-proyectos-personales-de-59-investigadores-y-creadores-culturales-en-9-areas-del-conocimiento-y-las-artes\/\">Leonardo Grants for Researchers and Cultural Creators 2021<\/a> given by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbbva.es\/en\/\">BBVA Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The commission&rsquo;s decision, made public on 10 June 2021, resolved to award <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redleonardo.es\/noticias\/adjudicadas-59-becas-leonardo-a-investigadores-y-creadores-culturales-en-9-areas-de-la-ciencia-y-la-cultura\/\">59 grants in nine areas of science and culture<\/a>, selected from a total of 1,274 applications and each consisting of 40,000 euros. The fellowship awarded to Dra. Antoja, Ram&oacute;n y Cajal Researcher, is one of the 6 Leonardo Grants awarded in the area of \u200b\u200bBasic Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and will help promote her research work in the field of Galaxy formation and evolution.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redleonardo.es\/becas\/becas-leonardo-investigadores-creadores-culturales-2021\/\">Leonardo Grants<\/a> are intended to support personal projects of researchers and cultural creators in intermediate stages of their career, between 30 and 45 years, that stand out due to a significant scientific, technological or cultural production. The Leonardo program, created by the BBVA Foundation in 2014, contributes to the generation of knowledge in a wide range of fields, from basic research, biomedicine, the environment and the development of technological applications, to the social sciences, humanities, music and literature.
