Trigo-Rodr&iacute;guez, researcher at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.csic.es\/\">Institute of Space Sciences<\/a> <strong>(ICE-CSIC)<\/strong> and member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieec.cat\/\">Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia<\/a> <strong>(IEEC),<\/strong> has won the <strong>Joan Llu&iacute;s Vives University Publishing Award<\/strong> in the category of best science and technology book for <em><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/book\/10.1007\/978-3-030-95124-5\">Asteroid Impact Risk: impact hazard from asteroids and comets<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The book, which was published as part of the popular science collection <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edicions.ub.edu\/articulos.aspx?modo=c&amp;fam=CAT%C3%80LISI\">Cat&agrave;lisi<\/a>, explains how the scientific community is preparing to face the impact of potentially dangerous asteroids and how the study of impact craters and other evidences have allowed to deepen the knowledge of their effects on the past of our planet. The work to raise awareness of the risk of asteroid impact has favoured the development of programmes to discover and track these bodies based on new detectors: modern telescopes and space missions that make it possible to catalogue and study their nature.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vives.org\/programes\/premis-ajuts\/premis-joan-lluis-vives-a-ledicio-universitaria\/\">Joan Llu&iacute;s Vives Awards<\/a> are an initiative of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vives.org\/\">Vives Network<\/a> which acknowledges university publishing in Catalan on the basis of interest, relevance and opportunity in the transmission of knowledge, the quality of publishing and the impact of publications in specialised journals and in the media.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation of the 5th Joan Llu&iacute;s Vives Awards for university publishing took place on Friday 14 July at the Universitat Jaume I, coinciding with the presentation of the 2023 Medal of Honour of the Vives Network of Universities.
