This is the third time that the city has hosted this event as a local venue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hackathon is aimed at anyone interested in programming, science, design, storytelling, creation, technology or innovation. The aim is for participants to use open data from NASA and its partners, such as other space agencies, to develop solutions to the challenges we face on Earth and in space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.8&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.8&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.8&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; link_font=&#8221;|700|||on||||&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the framework of the Talent and Society programme of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/politiquesdigitals.gencat.cat\/ca\/economia\/estrategia-new-space-catalunya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieec.cat\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IEEC \u2014 Institut d&#8217;Estudis Espacials de Catalunya) has collaborated as a sponsor, providing both mentors and members of the jury.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year&#8217;s local edition, with 17 teams, had two winners, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceappschallenge.org\/nasa-space-apps-2024\/find-a-team\/cosmic_explorer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cosmic_Explorer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceappschallenge.org\/nasa-space-apps-2024\/find-a-team\/tycho\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tycho<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first team, Cosmic_Explorer, chose the challenge of developing an interface for students to learn about exoplanets and, in particular, the constellations visible from these planets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In turn, Tycho decided to create a virtual reality game in which players take on the role of scientists and use real data and tools to explore stars, detect exoplanets and analyse their characteristics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NASA International Space Apps Challenge, the world&#8217;s leading hackathon, was held on 4, 5 and 6 October 2024 in Barcelona, at Campus 42 (Carrer d&#8217;Albert Einstein 11, 08042).
