The <\/span>PCP WISE<\/span><\/a> project (Pre-Commercial Procurement of Water Management Innovations from Space for European Climate Resilience), an initiative of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Programme focused on water management for climate resilience, will be present at the <\/span>Advanced Factories<\/span><\/a> exhibition. The event, one of the most relevant related to industrial technology, will take place on 8-10 April in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).<\/span><\/p>\n

PCP WISE, which has the participation of the <\/span>Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia<\/span><\/a> (IEEC), will raise one of the corporate challenges included in the Open Innovation Challenge 2025 to be held within the framework of the show. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Open Innovation Challenges are business meetings organised by <\/span>ACCI\u00d3<\/span><\/a> to connect companies and entities seeking innovative solutions to specific challenges with technology providers, during the celebration of the major international congresses held in Catalonia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Open Innovation Challenges are an ideal environment for PCP WISE, a project involving a consortium of 26 organisations from 9 countries which, launched in January 2025, aims to develop advanced solutions for water management and climate resilience in Europe through pre-commercial public procurement (PCP) using tools such as artificial intelligence, satellite observation and early warning systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

To achieve this goal, the consortium will open a call for tenders next September to invite innovative technology providers to submit a bid to develop solutions that respond to the needs raised in five use cases related to floods, droughts, fires and impacts on infrastructure in rural and urban areas from different parts of Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IEEC, together with the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) and i2Cat is involved in the definition of a use case to address the effects of drought and flooding in rural areas of southern Europe, where both periods of structural drought and heavy rainfall affect agricultural processes, resulting in significant challenges for production.<\/span><\/p>\n

This Open Innovation Challenge is thus an opportunity for companies, technology centres or startups that offer transformative technology solutions capable of meeting the needs and challenges posed by PCP WISE to make them known and to get information about the use cases, the open market consultation and the call for tenders that will be opened next September.<\/span><\/p>\n
