The Phi-LabNET Spain programme of the <\/span>European Space Agency<\/span><\/a> (ESA) aims to <\/span>drive innovation for the commercialisation of space technologies to enhance climate resilience<\/b> and is supported by the <\/span>Spanish Space Agency<\/span><\/a> (AEE) and the <\/span>Generalitat de Catalunya<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The initiative is part of the <\/span>ESA<\/span>\u2019s ScaleUp Programme and is coordinated by the Institut d\u2019Estudis Espacials de Catalunya<\/a> (IEEC), as leader of a consortium formed by <\/span>the <\/span>i2CAT Foundation<\/b><\/a>, the <\/span>Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia<\/b><\/a> (ICGC), the <\/span>Fundaci\u00f3n General CSIC<\/b><\/a>, the <\/span>KIMbcn Foundation<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>Arribes Enlightenment<\/b><\/a>, the <\/span>University of Valencia<\/b><\/a> (UVEG), the <\/span>Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya<\/b><\/a> (UPC),\u00a0 the <\/span>Barcelona Supercomputing Center<\/b><\/a> (BSC-CNS), the <\/span>Ricardo Valle Institute of Innovation Foundation<\/b><\/a> (INNOVA IRV), the ESA MELiSSA Pilot Plant of the <\/span>Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona<\/b><\/a> (UAB), and the <\/span>Institute of Photonic Sciences<\/b><\/a> (ICFO).<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” link_font=”|700|||on||||” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n ESA\u2019s Phi-LabNET centres create a dynamic network of centres across Europe focused on innovation, and whose results can be transferred to the market. Its main mission is to accelerate the future of the space sector, both upstream and downstream, based on innovation projects with high commercial potential that transform or create industrial fabrics through new technologies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n ESA Phi-LabNET Spain, located in Barcelona, supports <\/span>innovative and disruptive projects focused on improving climate resilience<\/b> through calls managed by the coordinating consortium. By combining Earth Observation data with real-time measurements collected by Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs), WAVESS offers a scalable and cost-efficient solution for generating bathymetric and environmental maps with high accuracy. Using satellite observations and other data sources, the platform will track key variables such as coastal erosion, saltwater intrusion, and biodiversity loss, while assessing the effectiveness of protection measures.
