La imatge mostra un mapa d\u2019intensitat que revela la ubicaci\u00f3 dels agrupaments d\u2019ions de carboni.<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ESA &amp; NASA\/Solar Orbiter\/SPICE Team, M. Janvier (ESA) &amp; J. Plowman (SwRI)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; link_font=&#8221;|700|||on||||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La missi\u00f3 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieec.cat\/projecte\/23\/solar-orbiter\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solar Orbiter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, una iniciativa conjunta de l\u2019<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Space_in_Member_States\/Spain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ag\u00e8ncia Espacial Europea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ESA) i la <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NASA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ha captat per primera vegada imatges detallades del pol sud del Sol, una regi\u00f3 fins ara inexplorada. Aquestes observacions pioneres han estat possibles gr\u00e0cies a la inclinaci\u00f3 de l\u2019\u00f2rbita de la sonda i a la seva instrumentaci\u00f3 avan\u00e7ada, que permet estudiar les diferents capes de l\u2019atmosfera solar i mesurar el camp magn\u00e8tic a la superf\u00edcie del Sol. L\u2019<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieec.cat\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institut d\u2019Estudis Espacials de Catalunya<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IEEC) col\u00b7labora en aquesta missi\u00f3 espacial amb investigadors a l\u2019<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/icc.ub.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institut de Ci\u00e8ncies del Cosmos de la Universitat de Barcelona<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ICCUB).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Sol t\u00e9 un camp magn\u00e8tic molt din\u00e0mic que segueix un cicle d\u2019aproximadament 11 anys. Durant aquest per\u00edode, l\u2019activitat solar \u2014com les taques solars, les erupcions i les ejeccions de massa coronal\u2014 augmenta i disminueix. A la meitat del cicle, es produeix un fenomen fascinant: la inversi\u00f3 de la polaritat del camp magn\u00e8tic solar. Aix\u00f2 vol dir que el pol nord magn\u00e8tic es converteix en sud, i viceversa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; link_font=&#8221;|700|||on||||&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aquest proc\u00e9s no \u00e9s instantani ni uniforme. Comen\u00e7a amb una reorganitzaci\u00f3 del camp magn\u00e8tic a les latituds mitjanes i acaba afectant els pols. Per aix\u00f2, observar els pols solars \u00e9s clau per entendre com es produeix aquesta inversi\u00f3 i com afecta el comportament del Sol i el clima espacial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les imatges revelen un camp magn\u00e8tic \u2018ca\u00f2tic\u2019 al pol sud, amb polaritats tant positives com negatives. Aix\u00f2 \u00e9s important per tal de millorar els models actuals de predicci\u00f3 del cicle d&#8217;activitat solar i, en conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia, tamb\u00e9 millorar les prediccions de tempestes solars a llarg termini\u00bb, explica \u00c0ngels Aran, investigadora de l\u2019IEEC a l\u2019ICCUB.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aquests instituts han tingut un paper clau en aquest aven\u00e7 cient\u00edfic. Un equip liderat per Jos\u00e9 Maria G\u00f3mez-Cama, investigador de l\u2019IEEC a l\u2019ICCUB i membre del Departament d\u2019Enginyeria Electr\u00f2nica i Biom\u00e8dica de la Universitat de Barcelona, ha estat responsable del desenvolupament i implementaci\u00f3 del sistema d\u2019estabilitzaci\u00f3 d\u2019imatges (ISS) de l\u2019instrument PHI (Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager). Aquest sistema compensa el moviment de la sonda per garantir imatges d\u2019alta qualitat, com les que s\u2019han obtingut del pol sud solar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; link_font=&#8221;|700|||on||||&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A m\u00e9s, el grup de F\u00edsica Heliosf\u00e8rica i Meteorologia Espacial de l\u2019ICCUB i del Departament de F\u00edsica Qu\u00e0ntica i Astrof\u00edsica ha donat suport cient\u00edfic a l\u2019equip de l\u2019instrument EPD (Energetic Particle Detector), desenvolupant models per predir els nivells de radiaci\u00f3 de part\u00edcules durant les tempestes solars \u2014un aspecte clau per a la seguretat de la missi\u00f3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Llan\u00e7ada el febrer de 2020, Solar Orbiter t\u00e9 com a objectiu estudiar el Sol de prop i des de perspectives \u00faniques, especialment els seus pols, per comprendre millor el seu comportament magn\u00e8tic i la seva influ\u00e8ncia sobre l\u2019entorn interplanetari. En els propers anys, la inclinaci\u00f3 de l\u2019\u00f2rbita de la sonda augmentar\u00e0 progressivament gr\u00e0cies a maniobres assistides per la gravetat de Venus. L\u2019IEEC fomenta les col\u00b7laboracions tant a nivell local com mundial, i \u00e9s un eficient agent de transfer\u00e8ncia de coneixement, innovaci\u00f3 i tecnologia.\u00a0 Com a resultat de m\u00e9s de 25 anys de recerca d\u2019alta qualitat, duta a terme en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb les principals organitzacions internacionals, l\u2019IEEC es troba entre els millors centres d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 internacionals centrats en \u00e0rees com: l\u2019astrof\u00edsica, la cosmologia, les ci\u00e8ncies planet\u00e0ries i l\u2019observaci\u00f3 de la Terra. La divisi\u00f3 d\u2019enginyeria de l\u2019IEEC desenvolupa instrumentaci\u00f3 per a projectes terrestres i espacials, i t\u00e9 una \u00e0mplia experi\u00e8ncia treballant amb organitzacions privades i p\u00fabliques del sector aeroespacial aix\u00ed com altres sectors d\u2019innovaci\u00f3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019IEEC \u00e9s una fundaci\u00f3 del sector p\u00fablic sense \u00e0nim de lucre, fundada el febrer de 1996. Est\u00e0 regit per un Patronat compost per la Generalitat de Catalunya, la Universitat de Barcelona (UB), la Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB), la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya \u00b7 BarcelonaTech (UPC), i el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas (CSIC).
