In April, the protagonist of the image of the month is the spiral galaxy NGC 2841.<\/p>\n

abril_2016<\/p>\n

Located about 46 million light years away toward the constellation Ursa Major we find this spectacular spiral galaxy, one of the most massive known. The image captured with the telescope Joan Prayed, at the Observatori Astron\u00f2mic del Montsec, shows its bright nucleus (more yellow) and the galactic disk, with a large concentration of spiral arms filled with bands of dark dust, star formation regions in small pink spots and a large number of young star clusters.<\/p>\n

It is a galaxy of the same type as that of our neighbour Andromeda (M31) and, with about 150,000 light years across, it is much larger than the Milky Way.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
