Tras revisar exhaustivamente m&aacute;s de 100 solicitudes, el comit&eacute; evaluador del BBVA decidi&oacute; ofrecer una de las becas al f&iacute;sico del ICCUB-IEEC, para apoyar su investigaci&oacute;n sobre la energ&iacute;a oscura utilizando los datos de DESI (<em>Dark Energy Survey Instrument<\/em>) con las m&aacute;s avanzadas t&eacute;cnicas de an&aacute;lisis para maximizar el retorno de informaci&oacute;n y caracterizar algunas de las propiedades de la energ&iacute;a oscura.<\/p>\n<p>Con estas ayudas, las Becas Leonardo pretenden fomentar el talento y la originalidad en la investigaci&oacute;n. Cada beca consta de 40.000 &euro; que ayudar&aacute;n a los investigadores a llevar a cabo su proyecto y a luchar por su consolidaci&oacute;n profesional.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energ&iacute;a oscura<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La comprensi&oacute;n actual del cosmos se rige por el modelo est&aacute;ndar de la cosmolog&iacute;a LCDM, de sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s <em>Lambda-Cold Dark Matter<\/em>, propuesto a finales del siglo XX. Este modelo postula la existencia de un fluido misterioso, la energ&iacute;a oscura, que explicar&iacute;a la expansi&oacute;n acelerada del universo. Seg&uacute;n las observaciones m&aacute;s recientes, este fluido representa alrededor del 69% del contenido energ&eacute;tico total del universo. Sin embargo, a pesar de ser el elemento dominante y clave para comprender la evoluci&oacute;n futura del cosmos, sabemos muy poco sobre su din&aacute;mica o naturaleza.<\/p>\n<p>&laquo;La energ&iacute;a oscura es una etiqueta utilizada para referirse a algo de naturaleza desconocida para nosotros, pero que es necesario para explicar la expansi&oacute;n acelerada del universo&raquo;, explica <strong>Gil-Mar&iacute;n<\/strong>. &laquo;Durante los primeros 6.000 millones de a&ntilde;os de nuestro Cosmos, aproximadamente la primera mitad de su existencia, el universo se expandi&oacute; cada vez menos r&aacute;pidamente, y podemos entenderlo f&aacute;cilmente como una consecuencia de la gravedad de las galaxias, que tiran unas de otras. M&aacute;s tarde, sin embargo, el universo comenz&oacute; a expandirse de forma acelerada, y debido a ello postulamos la existencia de algo que contrarresta la fuerza de la gravedad y hace que el universo se expanda cada vez m&aacute;s r&aacute;pidamente. Acu&ntilde;amos este fen&oacute;meno con el nombre de energ&iacute;a oscura y es uno de los grandes misterios de la f&iacute;sica &raquo;, a&ntilde;ade.
