_module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb]Barcelona<\/p>\n<p>En un estudi recent, un grup d&rsquo;investigadors en el que participa Laura Tolos, investigadora Ram&oacute;n y Cajal de l&rsquo;Institut de Ci&egrave;ncies de l&rsquo;Espai ICE (CSIC-IEEC), situat al campus de la UAB, ha pogut concretar algunes de les caracter&iacute;stiques de les estrelles de neutrons, com s&oacute;n la m&agrave;xima massa que poden tenir, utilitzant les dades d&rsquo;un experiment d&rsquo;ions pesats realitzat en un accelerador de part&iacute;cules.<\/p>\n<p>Les estrelles de neutrons s&oacute;n romanents de l&rsquo;explosi&oacute; d&rsquo;una estrella massiva. S&rsquo;estima que estan composades majorit&agrave;riament per neutrons, i roten amb per&iacute;odes generalment menors a 1 s. L&rsquo;estudi te&ograve;ric fet pels investigadors va determinar, primer, la m&agrave;xima massa que poden tenir aquest tipus d&rsquo;estrelles, que &eacute;s de 3 masses solars, i, segon, la relaci&oacute; del radi d&rsquo;aquests objectes amb les propietats de la mat&egrave;ria en condicions extremes. &ldquo;Times New Roman<\/p>\n<p>S&oacute;n estrelles extremadament denses, per tant, &eacute;s dif&iacute;cil imaginar que una estrella d&rsquo;aquesta classe pugui tenir una massa similar al Sol (1.4 masses del Sol de mitjana) i estar comprimida en un espai no superior a 12 km, com la ciutat de Barcelona. Les estrelles de neutrons s&oacute;n, a m&eacute;s, excel&middot;lents escenaris per analitzar les propietats de la mat&egrave;ria nuclear sota condicions extremes de densitat. El poder determinar experimental i observacionalment la m&agrave;xima massa que poden tenir &eacute;s un pas endavant en la comprensi&oacute; de la mat&egrave;ria densa.<\/p>\n<p>Com a objectiu d&rsquo;aquest estudi, els cient&iacute;fics van dur a terme una an&agrave;lisi te&ograve;rica de les equacions que descriuen l&rsquo;estat en qu&egrave; es troba la mat&egrave;ria a l&rsquo;interior d&rsquo;una estrella de neutrons. Paral&middot;lelament, es van utilitzar dades d&rsquo;un experiment de part&iacute;cules pesades (ions pesats) anomenat KaoS a l&rsquo;accelerador de part&iacute;cules del Centre d&rsquo;Investigaci&oacute; de Ions Pesats GSI Helmholtz, a Darmstadt, Alemanya.<\/p>\n<p>Un cop analitzades les dades de l&rsquo;experiment KaoS del GSI, els cient&iacute;fics van poder determinar quin seria el comportament de la mat&egrave;ria en determinades condicions de densitat i, conseq&uuml;entment, van utilitzar aquesta informaci&oacute; per intentar precisar la massa m&agrave;xima i el radi de les estrelles de neutrons m&eacute;s lleugeres fins ara observades en funci&oacute; dels par&agrave;metres que componen aquestes equacions d&rsquo;estat de la mat&egrave;ria.<\/p>\n<p>Cal mencionar que hi ha experiments de f&iacute;sica de part&iacute;cules realitzats a acceleradors de part&iacute;cules terrestres, com ara GSI (Darmstadt, Alemanya), capa&ccedil;os de reproduir condicions molt properes a les que es donen en algunes estrelles, com, en aquest cas, les estrelles de neutrons.<\/p>\n<p>Recentment, es va aconseguir trobar, per mitj&agrave; d&rsquo;observacions, un dels p&uacute;lsars m&eacute;s massius, el PSR J1748-2021, el qual arriba a tenir 2.7 masses solars. Gr&agrave;cies a l&rsquo;experiment de KaoS del GSI, s&rsquo;ha pogut precisar un l&iacute;mit superior a la massa d&rsquo;aquests objectes de tres masses solars.<\/p>\n<p>Poder reproduir el que passa a l&rsquo;interior d&rsquo;una estrella a nivell terrestre &eacute;s sorprenent. Com menciona Laura Tolos, &ldquo;els aven&ccedil;os cient&iacute;fics i tecnol&ograve;gics han obert el cam&iacute; a intentar reproduir el que passa en alguns objectes estel&middot;lars. Es tracta doncs d&rsquo;analitzar aquestes dades i combinar aquesta informaci&oacute; amb les observacions que provenen d&rsquo;aquests objectes. L&rsquo;objectiu final &eacute;s entendre la mat&egrave;ria en condicions extremes de densitat&ldquo;.<\/p>\n<p>Caldr&agrave; veure si les observacions directes d&rsquo;aquestes estrelles confirmen la prediccions te&ograve;riques fetes fins ara, les quals vaticinen que les estrelles de neutrons no poden tenir masses superiors a 3 masses solars. Segurament ser&agrave; tasca del possible futur telescopi de monitoritzaci&oacute; de raigs X &#8211; Large Observatory for X-ray Timing (LOFT), que podr&agrave; observar i, per tant, acotar, d&rsquo;una manera m&eacute;s precisa, aquests l&iacute;mits te&ograve;rics.<\/p>\n<p>Ref.: Soft nuclear equation-of-state from Eva-ion data and implications for compact stars, Phys.
