Call for applications open: ESA BIC Barcelona to Incubate four new companies bringing innovation to the space sector

Dec 3, 2025

The business incubation centre of the European Space Agency in Barcelona, ESA BIC Barcelona, has launched a new call to select the next four companies that will join its incubation programme.

The ESA BIC Barcelona incubation programme aims to foster the growth of innovative start-ups that create products and services using space technologies or data, or that develop solutions for the space sector, thereby contributing to the promotion of Catalonia’s aerospace industry.

The initiative, driven by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), the Mediterranean Technology Park (PMT) and the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Business and Labour — through the Secretariat for Digital Policies — is supported by Barcelona City Council — through Barcelona Activa — and forms part of the Catalonia Space 2030 Strategy. The strategy is developed with the collaboration of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya), the i2CAT Foundation and the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC).

Currently, eleven companies from the 2023 and 2024 calls are part of the programme: CIRCE, EMC Barcelona, Geoskop, Kreios Space, Slimop Space, Xiroi Aerospace, AtMake, Yplasma, Spascat, TracksCO2 i Systellar Space. Recently, three more companies selected in the May 2025 call have joined: Wave Masters, Moai Tech and Wild Caster.

For the selected companies, the benefits of being part of the incubation programme, for a maximum period of two years, are:

  • A €60,000 non-equity financial incentive for the development of their product or service, co-funded 50% by ESA and the Government of Catalonia
  • A programme of activities including mentoring, technical and business support, and legal advice on intellectual and industrial property
  • Participation in industry events and workshops
  • Be part of the Innovation Ecosystem of the UPC, the Space community of the Digital Catalonia Alliance (Espai-DCA) and the ESA BIC network, which already has 29 business incubation centres in Europe.
  • Opportunities to be located in the dedicated ESA BIC Barcelona area within the UPC’s RDIT building (PMT, Baix Llobregat Campus), where the IEEC and the Phi-Lab Spain coordinated by the same institute are also based, among others

Companies interested in applying to the incubation programme may submit their applications until 14 January 2026 (23:59 h) via the following link:
