Nuclei in the Cosmos (NIC) is a biennial conference series dedicated to Nuclear Astrophysics. This interdisciplinary gathering brings together hundreds of experts—including nuclear physicists, astrophysicists, and cosmochemists—to share insights on the latest developments and challenges in the field. Over the years, NIC has established itself as the premier international forum for the Nuclear Astrophysics community.
This year’s edition, for the first time held in Catalonia, is co-organised by the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya), with a relevant participation of IEEC researchers at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) and the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC).
NIC XVIII will take place from 15 to 20 June in Girona (Catalonia, Spain), at the Palau de Congressos (Pg. de la Devesa, 35). Each edition of the conference is preceded by a School for graduate students and early career researchers. Barcelona will be the venue for this year’s NIC School (10 – 13 June).
The NIC series began in Wien, Austria, in 1990, and changes location in every edition. To date, 17 editions of NIC have taken place in different towns, countries, and continents.
