The XVII Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Astronomical Society (SEA) will take place from 13 to 17 July at the Palau Firal i de Congressos in Tarragona.
This biennial event is organised in collaboration with the Catalan research and university network. Particularly, the local organising committee includes a relevant presence of researchers from the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC), the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) and the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the Universitat de Barcelona (ICCUB). The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE), the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) also collaborate in this gathering.
The event will bring together more than 500 experts in astronomy, with a notable presence of young PhD researchers, who will account for nearly a third of the attendees. Furthermore, this edition will feature the African Astronomical Society as the guest organisation.

Providing the State’s astronomical community with a forum for scientific exchange and communication, with particular attention to young researchers, who have the opportunity to meet and interact with other members and present their work in a scientific and friendly environment.
