SG[Spain] 2023, the annual meeting of young students and professionals in the field of space

Nov 15, 2023

The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in Support of the United Nations Programme on Space Applications is a global non-governmental, non-profit organisation and network which aims to connect and represent university students and young space professionals ages 18 – 35 to the United Nations, space agencies, industry, and academia.

With the theme ‘New dreams, new future, new space’, this year, the Spanish regional event SG[Spain] 2023 will take place in Barcelona on 17-18 November. The gathering will bring together university students, young professionals, and guest speakers from the space industry, space agencies, space non-governmental organisations, and research laboratories.

After the successful celebrations of editions SG[Spain] 2019 and SG[Spain] 2022 in Madrid, the event is now moving to Barcelona, a vibrant Mediterranean city that has become one of Europe’s poles in the space sector, with top-notch educational institutions and research centres, start-ups, and well-established companies, as well as the business incubation centre ESA BIC Barcelona.

The purpose of the event is to gather together people who are passionate about space coming from different backgrounds to enhance interdisciplinary professional networks and exchange ideas regarding the future of the space sector.

The sponsorship of SG[Spain] 2023 is framed within the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, with the collaboration of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC), the i2CAT Foundation and the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC). The Talent and Society programme promotes activities aimed at attracting, generating and retaining talent with the skills to develop solutions in the NewSpace field, with the support of the IEEC. And with the participation of the Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA), we try to bring the entities of the DCA-NewSpace community closer to this talent.
