Nov 13, 2023

  • From 14 to 16 November, the German city of Bremen will host the sixth edition of the leading international event for the European space industry
  • The ‘NewSpace Catalonia’ stand, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya with the support of the IEEC, will host 5 entities from the Catalan space ecosystem
  • The objective is to project the Government’s NewSpace Strategy and the Catalan space ecosystem, thereby facilitating collaboration and international business spaces for participating companies and entities

Catalonia, through the Government’s NewSpace Strategy, will participate for the first time with its own stand at the Space Tech Expo Europe, the largest and most important international business fair for the space industry in Europe, based in the German city of Bremen, which celebrates its sixth edition from 14 to 16 November.

Promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya through the Department of Business and Work, with the support of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya) and the collaboration of the i2CAT Foundation and the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC), the ‘NewSpace Catalonia‘ stand will host 5 companies and entities from the Catalan space ecosystem: ASE Optics Europe, Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), isardSAT, Kreios Space and Osmium.

These 5 companies and entities, selected in an open call, will have an individual space within the NewSpace Catalonia stand to exhibit their products and services and promote their activities. In addition, they will be able to enjoy the different dissemination and internationalisation activities carried out there, as well as the accompaniment and support from the driving entities of the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya, IEEC, i2CAT Foundation and ICGC), during the fair. The latter will also have a differentiated exhibition space where they will explain to visitors the main lines and objectives of the strategy, as well as some of the main projects it integrates.

The Catalan delegation’s participation in this international event aims to project to the world the strengths of the Government’s NewSpace Strategy and the industrial, innovation and talent generation capacities present in the Catalan ecosystem; show the interaction potential of the space sector and the digital sector, both strategic for the emergence of the new space economy; and encourage the Catalan companies and institutions present to do business and establish international contacts as part of an innovative ecosystem. Thus, in addition to participating in activities at the fair itself, the Catalan delegation will organise its own, such as meetings with delegations, agencies, actors and companies from other countries.
