IEEC director will participate on the Science Schools Day
Science Schools Day, an activity aimed at 3rd and 4th year ESO students, will take place on 17 November in the frame of the Catalan Science Week (12-21 November).

The conference, organised by the Ministry of Education of the Catalan Government and the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi, Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació), is featuring the participation of the astrophysicist and director of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya), Ignasi Ribas. The project will address four main topics this year: circular economics, robotics, astrophysics and cybersecurity.

In the first part, each of the experts proposed a simple challenge to the students through a presentation video. Once visualized, the students will work together with the teachers to overcome the challenge and raise doubts or questions to the scientists. In this framework, Dr. Ribas, researcher at the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC), prepared a challenge focused on the discovery of exoplanets

The other scientists who took part in the project were Anaís Garrell, Júlia Borràs and Irene García (robotics); Jordi Morató, Brent Villanueva and Juan David Escorcia (circular economy), and Davinia Hernández-Leo, Roberto Sánchez, Emily Theophilou and René Lobo (social media).

On the 17th the participating researchers will make an online connection with the students to show and comment on the results of the challenges worked. In addition, students will be able to ask questions related to their research and more personal aspects of the researchers. The activity will be broadcasted on the FCRi Youtube channel
