IEEC signs an agreement to boost aerospace activity at the Lleida-Alguaire Airport
The president of Airports of Catalonia (Aeroports de Catalunya), Isidre Gavín, and the director and the manager of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya), Ignasi Ribas and Pilar Montes, respectively, have signed today, 5 March 2021, an agreement to formalise the IEEC's aerospace activity at the Lleida-Alguaire Airport.

The agreement is part of the NewSpace Strategy for Catalonia promoted by the Department of Digital Policy and Public Administration of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which considers the potential of Lleida airport to become a key infrastructure for space activity in Catalonia. The aim of the agreement is to promote projects with different consolidated companies and start-ups and to shape the aerospace uses of the Lleida-Alguaire Airport.

The purpose of this agreement is to establish the working basis for collaboration between Aeroports de Catalunya and IEEC to carry out the project for the creation of the business development area linked to outer space that is expected to host the Lleida airport infrastructure.
