Resolution of the Call for Grants for Internships in Companies and Research Centers in NewSpace Projects

The Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and the Government of Catalonia have announced the awarding of 12 grants to companies, start-ups, and research centers in Catalonia under the call for grants for internships in companies and research centers in NewSpace-related projects, which opened last July 29. 

The purpose of this grant is to promote internships in companies, start-ups, and research centres in the field of space solutions and technologies, as a key element for strengthening the connection between universities and industry.

In addition, the initiative aims to support small companies and research centers in Catalonia that may face challenges in hiring interns with their own resources.

The 12 selected entities, each of which will receive up to €3,000, are:

This call is part of the Talent and Society programme within the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia, aimed at promoting the space ecosystem across the region and enabling entities based in Catalonia to fund university student internships in this field.

About the IEEC

The Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya) promotes and coordinates space research and technology development in Catalonia for the benefit of society. IEEC fosters collaborations both locally and worldwide and is an efficient agent of knowledge, innovation and technology transfer. The IEEC is a non-profit public sector foundation that was established in February 1996. It has a Board of Trustees composed of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), and the Spanish Research Council (CSIC). The IEEC is also a CERCA centre.
