New opportunities for companies in the NewSpace Economy 2.0 Conference
The 'New Space Economy 2.0 Conference: New business opportunities for companies', organised by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of the Vice-presidency, Digital Policies and Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, will take place on 22 October (9:00 a.m., Casa Llotja de Mar). The event has the collaboration of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya), i2Cat Foundation and the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC).

The conference, aimed at companies and entrepreneurs interested in learning about new opportunities in the sector, will address what new business models the NewSpace Economy can offer. The day, which will feature prominent personalities in this field, will be focused on the main trends and projects in Catalonia. 

Josep Colomé, head of the IEEC Knowledge Transfer Office, will moderate the round table 'We are building the first constellation of Catalan satellites’ (10:00 a.m.), where the future Earth Observation and sustainability satellites that are part of the NewSpace Strategy will be presented and discussed.

The series of brief interventions ‘The impact and return of space, a driving sector for the Catalan business fabric’ (11:00 a.m.) will feature the participation of Estel Cardellach, IEEC researcher at the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE – CSIC).
 

Finally, IEEC director Ignasi Ribas will participate in the conversation ‘Challenges and opportunities for women in the sector’ (1:15 p.m.) together with Mireia Colina, co-leader of the association ‘Women in Aerospace – Europe Barcelona’.

The event will also have the participation of Aeroports de Catalunya, KimBcn Fundation, the research centre IRTA-Mas Badia, and the companies Open Cosmos, Sateliot, Lobelia Earth, Aistech Space, Rokubun, Tinkerers and Earthpulse.
