Each month the Observatori Astronòmic del Montsec (OAdM) of IEEC publishes an outstanding image from the observations made there. In June the protagonists are the Pillars of Creation.

Dozens of new stars are born in the Nebula of the Eagle (M16), wrapped of a few columns of molecular hydrogen and powder. These, known as ” The Pillars of Creation “, have a measure of several light years, and the density in its interior is what allows that the material should be compacted to form new stars. In the exterior of these dark clouds, the powerful radiation of the young stars ionizes the gas, producing the reddish light of this emission nebula. The Nebula of the Eagle is approximately 7000 light years of distance of the constellation of the Serpent.

The image has been captured by the Telescopi Joan Oró of the Observatori Astronòmic del Montsec, using several filter of broad band and a time of exhibition of approximately 4 hours. [NOT TRANSLATED]
